What inspired you to become a teacher?

I am one of eight children and the oldest girl in my family. I always knew I would go into a profession working with children. Now that I am teaching, my students are my inspiration. They inspire me to be my best every single day! I am also surrounded by some of the most dedicated and inspiring teachers. My colleagues inspire me to be better every day.

What do you find most rewarding about teaching and working with students?

Loving the children! I enjoy finding the greatness in each young person who enters my room, and knowing I can make a difference in the life of a child fills my heart with joy. My teaching is authentic and heart-centered, and I strive to make sure each and every child feels seen.

Are there any memorable or impactful moments in your teaching career that stand out to you?

Every day is an opportunity for impact. I understand that to be successful, a student needs just one person in their school who will always believe in them and be there for them. I want to be that person!

How do you connect with and engage students in the learning process?

I connect with my students by seeing them, hearing them, and making sure they know they are loved. If they feel loved, everything else falls into place.

What do you hope students will take away from your classes or your mentorship?

I hope my students feel seen, safe, and loved.

Do you have a favorite place on campus? What makes it your favorite?

The Chapel is my absolute favorite place on campus. It is positively beautiful and a quiet place just to be, reflect, and pray.

How do you recharge and find inspiration when you’re not in the classroom?

I recharge by spending time with my family. My favorite place in the world is the beach or any place by water. One other way I recharge is by making time for prayer each morning.

Beyond the classroom, what are some of your interests or hobbies that you’re passionate about?

I am most passionate about my family and my faith. My three sons are all collegiate swimmers, so if I am not at a game with my nieces or nephews, I am at a swim meet.
