The first day of the 2023-2024 school year is Tuesday, August 29, but on Monday, McDonogh was bustling with activity and excitement. Joy and laughter could be heard from one end of campus to the other. Lower schoolers and their parents enjoyed "Meacher Teacher," an opportunity to visit their new classrooms and meet their teachers and classmates. Later, the youngest bus riders were acquainted with new friends at Bus Buddy Brunch where they had a chance to climb aboard a school bus. Meanwhile, middle schoolers were introduced to their Greenebaum Building neighborhoods, learned the plans for the school year, and had lots of fun at the second annual Mingle and Munch. Freshmen spent much of their day getting to know the other students in their advisory through a variety of activities, while sophomores enjoyed a campus scavenger hunt and participated in a Greatest Good McDonogh impact event during which they made hygiene kits for H.U.R, an outreach organization offering mentorship to young women in low resourced communities. Juniors and seniors traveled to the Pearlstone Retreat Center and Outdoor Education Campus where they participated in a variety of bonding activities and met with Head of School Dave Farace '87. The entire community is ready for the new school year—McDonogh's 150th.
