Nancy Ariosa - Retiree Tributes - McDonogh School

Nancy Ariosa

“Nancy? Are you on the radio?” It’s a question that has frequently been asked over the airways at McDonogh for almost 28 years. During that time, Nancy Ariosa has been at the center of operations for Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Grounds, providing them with support and giving them direction. Whether the task is small or large, she is on it, making sure things run smoothly.

Nancy came to McDonogh in 1986 to assume the vital, behind-the-scenes role of secretary to the Director of Facilities.

In her time here, she has taken care of payroll, workman’s comp claims, benefits packages, fingerprinting new employees, and distributing keys for the hundreds of doors on campus. She also ordered tents for special events and made sure we had the correct number of chairs and tables for most large functions, such as commencement and today’s Headmaster’s Day Ceremony.

Her job requires hard work, attention to detail, and the ability to plan--not just days, but months in advance--to make this school function with precision.  Nancy is very good at managing all of her responsibilities, and more. Always one to pitch in, Nancy could be counted on to lend a hand in other offices when someone was sick or overwhelmed.

Because of her knowledge of buildings and grounds, Nancy was appointed to the Board of Directors of a major, local golf course so they could learn from her expertise. And speaking of golf, it is one of Nancy’s passions.  Now that she will have more free time, Nancy is looking forward to improving her golf handicap and spending quality time with her grandchildren.

Nancy, thank you for all that you have done to keep McDonogh School running smoothly all these years. We will miss hearing your voice on the radio.
