Wrestlers Honor Ray Oliver '40

With former wrestler, teacher, coach and official Ray Oliver '40 looking on, the Eagles won their fourth straight Oliver title, scoring 235 points to lead a pack of 10 schools. Competitors came from Westminster, North Carroll, Centennial, and Gilman, to name a few.

Out of 12 weight classes, McDonogh had a record eight boys in the championship rounds. Five victors emerged: Ricky T., Chet N., Travis H., Geoff M. and tournament MVP Zak J. The team presented Oliver with the tournament trophy.

Then, alumni, parents, faculty, administrators, officials, and wrestlers recognized Oliver for his most recent achievement, induction into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame for his "lifetime service to wrestling." Oliver's affiliation with the sport has spanned 67 years.
