DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS
The Athletic Director at McDonogh School will be a visionary leader responsible for overseeing and nurturing the School’s athletic program, an essential aspect of our community. This individual will cultivate and maintain a culture of sportsmanship, professionalism, and respect throughout all levels of athletic engagement. Balancing strategic thinking with meticulous attention to daily operations, the ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator, an enthusiastic collaborator, and a passionate builder of programs. They will be open to modern approaches while valuing and upholding cherished traditions. The Athletic Director will inspire all members of the School community, embody authenticity and integrity, and genuinely care for students’ well-being and development.
As a member of the Senior Administrative Team, the Athletic Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of the School’s athletic program for students from sixth through twelfth grade. Partnering with other senior administrators and guided by their expertise, the Athletic Director will support the marketing strategies of our athletic programs; engage with current, former, and prospective constituents; coordinate with leaders of the academic programs; manage our athletic facilities; and attract talented students. The Director will also provide guidance to all coaches, both teacher-coaches and adjuncts, to ensure integrity, consistency, and overall excellence in the athletic program. The successful candidate will demonstrate wisdom and empathy, valuing the educational, financial, and community needs of the School.

The Barn Hand is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment at the Boston Equestrian Center on our campus in Owings Mills, MD.
This position will also complete basic horse care and assist with horse shows as needed.
McDonogh School operates one of the finest riding programs in the area and the facilities include indoor and outdoor competition rings, 40 acres of turnout including 25 paddocks with private turnouts, a 70 stall barn and a 50 stall competition stabling building, and a 3 bay auxiliary supply building.

The estimated annual salary range for this position is $40,000 - $45,000. The final salary offer will be comensurate on credentials, experience, and benchmarking. Additional information about McDonogh, including benefits available, can be reviewed here.
Evening and weekend hours are required. Lifting and carrying of 50 pounds or more is typical. Other working conditions include climbing stairs, walking around campus, sitting, standing, bending, balancing, squatting, reaching, and grasping. Pulling. Pushing. Working in humid conditions. Working in outside weather conditions. Working near moving mechanical parts. Working with moderate to loud noise levels.
