General Summary

The McDonogh Parents Association (MPA) Liaison is a professional staff position that serves as the primary connection between the school administration and the parent community. This role supports parent volunteers, coordinates MPA activities and events, and ensures alignment between parent initiatives and the school's strategic objectives. The MPA Liaison works to promote a cohesive approach to parent engagement at McDonogh School.

 

Essential Functions

  • Parent Volunteer Coordination
  • Support the MPA Board and attend all MPA meetings
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for MPA committee/divisional chairs in conjunction with the MPA leadership team
  • Attract, train, and support parent volunteers for various roles within the MPA structure and coordinate with HR to ensure compliance with school policies and practices
  • Maintain a database of parent volunteers and their interests/skills
  • Provide administrative support for MPA operations and initiatives
  • Event Management
  • Coordinate logistics in partnership with the MPA leadership for MPA-led events, including, but not limited to:
  • Honey of a Jam
  • McDonogh-Gilman game
  • Used Uniform Sales
  • Parent education programming
  • Faculty appreciation events
  • MPA Board and divisional meetings
  • Manage event calendars, venue reservations, and necessary resources
  • Track event budgets and expenses in coordination with the Business Office and MPA treasurer
  • Ensure events comply with school policies and procedures
  • Evaluate event success and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Communication Facilitation : In coordination with the Director of Communication and Marketing and their team:
  • Create communications about MPA events and volunteer opportunities
  • Develop materials to help new families understand MPA structure and opportunities
  • Ensure consistent messaging and MPA content on the school website and/or other digital platforms
  • Prepare regular updates for school publications and newsletters
  • School-Parent Relationship Building
  • Welcome new families and help them navigate involvement opportunities
  • Address parent questions and concerns, directing them to appropriate resources
  • Represent the school at MPA events and activities
  • Provide feedback to school leadership about parent perspective
  • Confer with division heads
  • Assist with division-specific parent engagement initiatives
  • Administrative Support
  • Confer with MPA President on meeting schedules, agendas, and minutes
  • Ensure all MPA activities align with school policies and procedures
  • Support special projects as assigned by school leadership
  • Compensation will be offered in the range of $20,000- 30,000. Individual offers will be specific, and based on education, experience, and benchmarking parameters.

Recommended Employment Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Additional Experience

  • Experience in community relations, volunteer management, or similar role
  • Experience with event planning and coordination

Working Conditions

Bending. Lifting and carrying of equipment is not typical but may be required on rare occasions. Lifting up to 25 pounds. Other working conditions include climbing stairs, walking around campus, sitting, standing, and significant computer use including extensive close use of a computer monitor. Reaching, grasping. Some evening and weekend work required for events. This is a half-time, 10-month position (follows academic calendar with summer planning period). This is an in-person position, with an office location on the McDonogh School campus.
