What inspired you to become a teacher?

Photographer: Vivie Labellarte '26

I was inspired to become a teacher because I believe in the power of education to change lives. From a young age, I was fortunate to have teachers who not only taught me academic subjects but also motivated me to believe in my own potential. I wanted to be able to make that kind of difference in others' lives. Teaching allows me to inspire, guide, and empower students to pursue their dreams, grow their knowledge, and become the best versions of themselves. The idea of being a part of their journey and seeing their 'aha' moments is what truly drives me.

What do you find most rewarding about teaching and working with students?

What I find most rewarding about teaching and working with students is the opportunity to witness their growth and development, both academically and personally. There’s nothing quite like the moment when a student grasps a concept they’ve been struggling with, or when they discover a passion they didn’t know they had. Seeing their confidence build as they realize what they are capable of achieving is incredibly fulfilling. Knowing that I play a role in helping them unlock their potential and watching them grow into curious, thoughtful individuals is the greatest reward.

Beyond the classroom, what are some of your interests or hobbies that you’re passionate about?

Beyond the classroom, I’m passionate about traveling and exploring new places with my husband and friends. I love spending time at our beach house, where I can relax and recharge, enjoying the beauty of the ocean. I also cherish the moments I spend with my daughter, Clara, visiting fun and engaging places that spark her curiosity and sense of adventure. Cooking is another hobby I enjoy as it allows me to get creative and try new recipes. I also have a passion for decorating, making spaces feel warm and inviting.

Do you have a favorite place on campus? What makes it your favorite?

My favorite place on campus has to be the Child’s Memorial and views of the chapel. There’s something incredibly peaceful and inspiring about that spot. I love seeing students run around and enjoy the space, their energy bringing the area to life. It’s also a place where you can witness the school come together as a community. That sense of unity and joy, combined with the beauty of the surroundings, makes it a truly special place for me.
