LS Closing Ceremony
Despite the dark skies and driving rain on Friday, June 5, the fourth graders’ smiles made it plenty bright inside the Rollins-Luetkemeyer Athletic Center. The annual Lower School Closing Ceremony celebrated the promotion of the Class of 2017 to Middle School. Performances by the drum corps, grade-level singing groups, and the recorder ensemble added to the festive atmosphere. After Head of Lower School Noreen Lidston offered her tribute to the 71 soon-to-be graduates, Headmaster Charlie Britton handed each a certificate. The fourth graders squirmed in their seats for a few minutes while class banners were exchanged, signifying the promotion of all lower schoolers. Then, graduates bounded out of their chairs and tossed their blazers high in the air. The basketball hoop filled quickly with blue jackets.
