LS Helps Library Without Books

After learning earlier this fall that an elementary school library in Louisiana was still without books after losing all they had to Hurricane Katrina, the Lower School took action. For five weeks, students donated a combined total of 8,000 books of their own and Ukazoo Books of Towson contributed 10,000 more. On December 4, students filled a U-Haul with the donated books and then waved goodbye to first grade teacher Mary-Catherine Irving and fourth grade teacher Craig Whiteford as they headed to Lousianna to make the delivery. Photos of students unloading the books in Louisiana are compliments of Dinah Rogers from the Times-Picayune and were featured in the newspaper on December 5.
