Students Meet Award-Winning Author
It is not every day that readers get to meet the author of the book they just finished. On October 4, sixth graders were fortunate to do just that. Nora Raleigh Baskin, author of Anything But Typical, spent the day at McDonogh and shared with students how she created the plot for this award-winning novel and found the voice of the main character, Jason, a twelve-year-old autistic boy. Baskin also conducted a creative writing workshop on the importance of first lines.
