Eighth Grade Closing Ceremony

Soaking wet chairs and a forecast for stormy weather on Monday, June 1 did not prevent the Eighth Grade Closing Ceremony from taking place as scheduled on Childs Memorial Terrace. Thanks to the dedicated maintenance crew, the seats were dry for family and friends, and the sun even poked through the clouds as the 111 eighth graders were presented with certificates of completion of Middle School. Student speakers Lukas M. and Hannah G. reflected on the past and looked toward the future. Lukas said, “As a group we have the chemistry, resilience, and camaraderie to make change.” Hannah concluded, “We are all individuals who will take our own paths in life, who will set our own sails, but we will always remember the Class of 2019 getting ready to set sail on an ocean we have yet to navigate.”
