Rootstock 2016 was a day of service, salsa (dancing and the kind you eat with chips), mindfulness, and music. The eighth grade spent most of Tuesday, May 31 engaged in a series of activities at Roots that appealed to the mind, body, and sprit. Throughout the morning, students cycled through stations learning to play bluegrass; planting marigolds, peppers, sunflowers, and beans; practicing mindfulness; learning how to salsa dance; and making salsa which they enjoyed at their picnic lunch. After the cookout, they heard from Greg Nalley founder of Nalley Fresh, who spoke about his love of cooking and pursuing his dream. Then, Nalley joined the students for a jam session.
