3 Weeks + 2 Classes = 1 Huge Success
Students in fifth and sixth grades piloted the new Middle School Academy during the last three weeks of the school year. The program, during which students enrolled two, two-hour classes of their choice, was a huge success. Designed to excite, inspire, and engage, course offerings ranged from Spy School and Shark Tank to Myths, Monsters, and Mosaics and many included special guest speakers and field trips. Each day of the Academy also included an opportunity to explore something they may never have considered, such as how to play badminton, a crash course in all things Italian, and the geology of their own backyard. During a showcase for parents on Tuesday, May 28, it was clear that the middle schoolers honed the LifeReady skills of collaboration, critical thinking, communication, commitment, and character.
