Juniors Receive McD Pin

McDonogh’s Class of 2020 officially became upperclassmen at the annual Junior Pin Ceremony on Sunday, September 30. The evening began with a casual advisory dinner in Paterakis Dining Hall, after which students spilled onto the Ritter Terrace for photographs. The junior class then processed into the Ceres M. Horn Theatre for the ceremony, which included remarks from Junior Class Dean Libet Ottinger and class officers Surya Khatri and Grace Roden, followed by a slideshow of memories created by Sara Kurlander and Meghan Lee. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of gold McD lapel pins by Head of Upper School Merritt Livermore and Head of School Dave Farace. At the conclusion of the evening, Farace, who graduated from McDonogh two years before this tradition began, was presented with a pin of his own. He then addressed the junior class, encouraging them to wear their pins with pride.
