Middle School Choir Director Suzanne Eldridge and a team of chaperones led 30 seventh and eighth graders to the most magical place on Earth on Saturday, February 8. The McDonogh Singers spent four days in Disney World, taking workshops in choral singing, Broadway staging and choreography, and voice over recording for Disney animated films. They also interacted with Disney Performers and learned what it takes to work for the biggest employer of performers in the world. The highlight of the trip was performing in the park for an international audience on a Disney stage. The group prepared a fun set that told the story of Dorothy’s adventures in the Emerald City through songs from The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, and Wicked. And since no one wishes upon a star to go to Disney World and just work the entire time, students also had the opportunity to enjoy the parks and partake in a Hawaiian luau complete with fire and hula dance lessons.
