With Valentine's Day right around the corner, all three divisions were feeling the love during the week of February 8-12. Fourth graders shared their love by creating and mailing Valentines to McDonogh alumni age 80 and older. Each beautifully crafted card included a personal letter from the student. Prekindergarteners found themselves in a sticky situation while icing heart-shaped sugar cookies that they baked at Roots Farm. And on Friday, the entire Lower School wore shades of red and traded Valentine cards in class.
In Middle School, students were treated to a love-themed musical medley from the McDonogh Singers. Thanks to the help of almnus Ryan Sevel '14, the group created a video featuring a performance of Seasons of Love from the musical, "Rent." See the performance here.
The Sophomore SGA sponsored "Love Week" in the Upper School, with five days of activities designed to warm the hearts of all. From taking “Love Your Selfies,” to making new friends in Zoom events, and decorating the doors of their advisory classrooms, the loved-themed fun brightened up the otherwise gray winter days. As is tradition, the a cappella groups, Gentleman Songsters and Women of Note, popped into classes to deliver (virtual) singing telegrams for lucky students throughout the day on Friday. You can see snippets of their performances here.
It was a lovely week.
