Jeff Sanborn’s AP US Government class took on the roles of plaintiffs, defendants, and the US Supreme Court in the case of Mahaney v. BL on Tuesday, May 4. The case, regarded as a First Amendment showdown, was of particular interest to the student litigators as it had to deal with a student’s right to free speech. Students gave compelling arguments on each side, while Judge Fred Smalkin ’64 and University of Baltimore Law School Professor Natalie Ram presided over the court.
