The Middle School community could not let the year go by without commemorating the opening of their new home—the Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Middle School building. Dressed in vibrant orange, they gathered at the end of the school day on Wednesday, May 13 for a mini celebration.
The event began with a rendition of "Let it Be" by the Middle School Rock Shop band and remarks from Head of Middle School Kristy Lundstrom. Then, Head of School Dave Farace '87 thanked Trustee and past parent Michael Greenebaum, as well as other donors, for their leadership and generosity which made the building a reality. In a nod to the past, history teacher Jon Aaron '72 spoke about the students who attended McDonogh prior to the existence of any of the current buildings. Then, he called on a handful of Middle School alumni/faculty members to share a memory of Finney Building—the former home to the division. The celebration wrapped up with a dance party with music provided by the Rock Shop band.
Plans are being made for an official opening celebration at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year.
