To honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., lower schoolers participated in a virtual day of service on Sunday, January 16. Following Dr. King’s example, Lower School students and their families seized opportunities to become involved in their community through meaningful acts of service to others.
Choosing from eight ways to make an impact, families completed their tasks at home and then brought their finished projects to McDonogh where Mary-Catherine Irving, her team of service minded sixth graders, Bridget Collins and Maya O'Konski from Greatest Good McDonogh, and Associate Heads of Lowers School Chanisse Fitchett and Silvia Patterson organized the items for distribution. These acts of service supported the Family Crisis Center of Baltimore County, the Loyola Early Learning Center, BARCS, Ronald McDonald House Charities, the Maryland Book Bank, Paul’s Place, and Meals on Wheels.
