Living without a home is never an easy prospect but winter’s frigid temperatures make it all the more daunting. With that in mind, Mary-Catherine Irving’s prefirst class collaborated with a team of sixth graders to try and provide some relief for those who need it most.
Paula C. ’28, Grace K. ’28, Rajan M. ’28, and Henry L. ’28 began working with Mary-Catherine on service initiatives when they were still in the fourth grade. Now, as sixth graders, they have become Youth Take a Stand in Baltimore and are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness. Together they led the prefirst students through the process of creating hygiene kits on Tuesday, January 11. The kits include many essential items, like band-aids, gloves, sanitizer, and hand warmers, that will be a great help as the temperatures drop. Over the weekend, Mary-Catherine will deliver the kits across the streets of Baltimore.
