Parents, families, and friends gathered at Child Memorial Terrace on a picture-perfect June 5 morning to celebrate the Class of 2027’s unforgettable Middle School years and to send them off to Upper School for the final leg of their McDonogh journey. The program began with student speakers Andrew Han who addressed where the class has been by comparing it to a field trip, and Nengi Briggs who focused on their future by speaking about the opportunities that await them in Upper School. “How wonderful would it be if we could realize our true potential together?” she envisioned.
After the awards presentation, Head of Middle School Robyn Little challenged the eighth graders. “Be courageous and show the world who you are; look for friends who will build you up and encourage you to be you; and to take the time to experience the world outside of social media,” she said.
Then, Head of School Dave Farace ‘87, Associate Head of School Kate Mueller, Associate Head of Middle School Kirk Robertson ‘98, and longtime faculty member Jon Aaron ‘72 presented the Class of 2027 with their certificates. Following the milestone moment, the McDonogh Singers under the direction of Suzi Eldridge, sang the Dedication Hymn, and the Charles W. Britton Director of Character and Service Bridget Collins ‘90 gave the benediction. The ceremony closed with the class being turned over to Upper School Head Merritt Livermore ‘91 and Freshman Dean Alex Gardner.
