It was fair winds and calm seas for the 33rd annual Cardboard Boat Race on Friday, May 26. Eight expertly engineered cardboard boats created by teams of upper schoolers took to the waters of the duck pond for their maiden (and final) voyage. The themes of the vessels: Willa the Wonka Boat, Duck Boat, UFO Boat, Floating Farm, Huey the Helicopter, Mario Mushroom Princess Castle Boat, Venator Class Star Destroyer Boat, and the James Webb Space Tele'boat'.
After two heats in front of an enthusiastic crowd, teams sailed back to the Fader Innovation Center for the award ceremony. Congratulations to all the participants and to the builders of the Willa the Wonka Boat who were awarded the BOB (Best Overall Boat) trophy—made of cardboard, of course!
