The McDonogh Singers embarked on an exciting opportunity to learn from one of the biggest employers of performing arts—Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. From January 12 to 16, the group of 30 middle schoolers participated in the Disney Broadway Magic Workshop and Disney Sings Voice-Over Workshop. They also performed onstage for an international audience at Disney Springs.
Along with the workshops, the students (and chaperones!) enjoyed time in the parks and had a special dinner at the Hoop De Doo Musical Revue. Along the way, they practiced LifeReady skills including budgeting, teamwork, time management, organization, and flexibility. And, while not part of the itinerary, the final day of the trip was filled with suspense after a winter storm blanketed the Northeast, canceling flights home! Fortunately, the delay was brief and everyone returned home safe and sound. Watch the performance here.
