The annual All-School Holiday assembly on Friday, December 8 featured the traditional theme of discovering the Holiday Spirit. This year’s story, inspired by the upcoming All-School musical Matilda, was woven around performances by singers, dancers, and musicians from all three divisions, as well as a few corny jokes.
In the story, scripted by the Upper School improv class, Matilda, played by Middle School teacher Sam Kennedy, longs to celebrate the holiday season with books and other festivities, but her parents, played by Head of School Dave Farace and Director of Greatest Good McDonogh Bridget Collins, only want to watch television. She seeks refuge in her teacher, Ms. Honey, played by College Counselor Libet Ottinger, and together with the rest of the McDonogh family, they celebrate a joyful holiday. The assembly concluded with the choir singing “Seasons of Love,” and a special appearance from retired faculty members.
