Visitors are invited to bring a picnic supper, a lawn chair or blanket to sit outside, or listen from their cars. Seating is also available in the chapel in case of rain. The tower will be open for tours after the recital on the 15th, 22nd and 29th.

Following is the schedule:

  • July 8: Lisa Lonie, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • July 15: Sara & Ana Elias, Portugal
  • July 22: Todd Fair, Denver, Colorado
  • July 29: Malgosia Fiebig, Poland

A carillon consists of 23 or more cast bronze bells specially tuned to produce everything from classical music to hymns to popular melodies. It is played from a keyboard with two rows of spindle-like wooden keys, struck by half-closed fists, and from a pedalboard duplicating the lower octaves of manual keys. A mechanical wire linkage connects bells and keyboard.

The McDonogh School carillon, one of approximately 200 in North America, includes 48 bells, wighing a total of nearly 10 tons. The smallest is 24 pounds and has a diameter of 7 ½ inches; the largest weighs more than 1.6 tons and has a diameter of 53 inches. The bells were cast and tuned in the Netherlands by the Petit and Fristen Foundry, which dates back to 1660.
