Ann Fessler's 25-minute film Cliff and Hazel, an award-winning tribute to her adoptive mother, is the centerpiece of a new exhibit in the Tuttle Gallery through November 30. Fessler, professor of photography at Rhode Island School of Design, uses her art to explore issues surrounding adoption. Cliff and Hazel is a satellite installation to the Everlasting exhibit at the Maryland Institute College of Art, which opens January 31, 2003.
Fessler's work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions across the country, including locally at the Walters Art Museum, the Contemporary Museum, Artscape and Goucher College. Her work has also been featured in artists' book collections at the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, and Chicago's Museum for Contemporary Art, among others. Before joining the RISD faculty in 1993, Fessler was a photography professor at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
