The McDonogh Resident Acting Company will perform Thornton Wilder's play "Our Town" in the Ceres M. Horn Theatre Friday, March 30 at 8 p.m., Saturday, March 31 at 3:30 and 8 p.m., and Sunday, April 1 at 5 p.m. Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door.
A blend of lyricism, stoicism, cynicism, and idealism, "Our Town" is a play that chronicles a group of citizens from Grovers Corners, New Hampshire at the turn of the 20th century. In the show, the stage manager, a sort of modern-day Virgil/Chorus figure, ushers the audience through a handful of significant moments in the lives of about a dozen people, most notably, a young couple who fall in love during the play. More than a snapshop of what life was like at the time, the story is a call for everyone watching to live each moment of life fully and resist falling prey to obsessions that, in the long run, are of no significance at all.
