It's All About Safety: Police Directing Traffic at McDonogh Road

Safety is the issue. McDonogh Road has become a popular route to the Beltway for local traffic, and drivers often ignore its 30 mile-per-hour speed limit. Add to that McDonogh buses and commuters—at least 200 rookie drivers among them—turning at Woods Road, and traffic concerns multiply. With police managing the intersection, drivers from all directions can move through the area safely.

Traffic congestion for eastbound drivers coming from Painter’s Mill Road has been reduced, and there are no more long delays for buses taking students home in the afternoon. The school believes that the safety benefits of the new procedure more than justify the minor inconvenience for McDonogh Road’s westbound drivers, who never had to stop at Woods Road before.
