He spoke to Mr. Dixon and got permission to circulate a petition to build a wall ball wall. The petition netted 50 student signatures and inspired fellow-classmate Vibav M. to join Jacob in his campaign. The two boys met on several Wednesdays with Mr. Dixon to discuss the project. Generously, the boys said that even if the wall could not be built during their fourth grade year, the children who would be in the Lower School after them could enjoy it. They won the Headmaster's approval for the construction. Mr. Larry Johnston got involved at this point, helped to choose a location for the wall, secured funding, and put McDonogh craftsmen Don Clifford and Eric Lehman to work!
Mr. Clifford and Mr. Lehman completed the wall at the end of March and Mr. Dixon threw the first official pitch during recess on April 6th. At that ceremony, Jacob and Vibav were congratulated for their efforts. Now any Lower School student who chooses to can "hit the wall!" Jacob says that next year his project will be to win approval for shorts to be worn in the Middle School! Look out, Mr. Ford!
