If your new year’s resolutions include cooking and eating healthier foods, the Patrons’ Cooking Class to be held on January 25 from noon to 2 p.m. is designed for you. Kerry Dunnington, local cookbook author and caterer who is known for her user-friendly style, will demonstrate unique recipes that are both nutritious and simple to prepare during the two-hour session at the Bowman House. The cost is $35.00 per person.
The menu will include cheese curry pate with plum sauce, apricots and cream with teriyaki walnuts, polenta lasagna, purple cabbage salad and a moist, delicious and nutritious dessert with a secret vegetable ingredient. All the recipes can be found in Dunnington's cookbook, This Book Cooks. Guests are invited to participate in the demonstration. Following lunch, Dunnington will answer questions and sign copies of her cookbook, which are available for an additional charge.
Dunnington recently appeared at the 10th Annual Baltimore Book Festival as the only female chef invited to demonstrate among celebrity chefs from across the country. She is the founder and president of the Baltimore Cooking Club and a member of the Maryland Writer’s Association, National Association of Baby Boomer Women, Slow Food, and Paul’s Place, a full-service outreach center for Baltimore’s low-income residents. Maryland Public Television, National Public Radio, regional newspapers and magazines have all profiled her. Most recently, she was featured in the October 2005 issue of Smart Woman magazine, which named her “Smart Woman of the Month.”
Space is limited. To reserve your space, make checks payable in the amount of $35.00 to Laurie Atkinson and mail to 2110 Webb Lane; Baltimore, Maryland 21209.
