Sixth Graders Shine at Science Fair

On November 20 and 21, sixth graders stood proudly next to carefully constructed display boards and articulately explained their science fair projects to family, classmates, and teachers. The presentations were the culmination of an eleven-week course of study that focused on every aspect of the scientific process.

While welcoming parents and guests on Monday evening, science teachers Margaret Bitz and Maureen Koltz introduced themselves by saying, "We are the ones responsible for the mold growing in your house, the eggs rotting and sending a splendid aroma throughout your neighborhood, the invasion of bugs attacking plants, and cinnamon exploding on the stove!"

Students participated in a wide range of experiments, with catchy titles such as "Mouthwash Mayhem," "Wacky Watering," "Bubble Trouble," and Bacteria Bashers" to name a few.

"We equipped the students with all of the tools and knowledge necessary to independently complete their experiments, and they were very successful," said Bitz.

After answering countless questions about their experiments, students could be seen giving each other high-fives and pats on the back for jobs well done!
