Dr. Jane M. Healy, an internationally-recognized author, lecturer and consultant, will speak about “Developing Creative Minds of the 21st Century” at The Jemicy School's annual David H. Malin Lecture on April 3 at 6 p.m.
The lecture will be held at St. Timothy’s School located at 8400 Greenspring Avenue in Stevenson. Prior to the lecture from 5:15 to 6 PM., the public is invited to attend a book signing and meet Dr. Healy. For ticket reservations call Jemicy School at 410-653-2700. Seating is limited.
Dr. Healy’s address will appeal to parents and educators of all children and particularly those with language learning differences. Her primary research has been to find practical applications of current brain research for teachers and parents. She is the author of four books and has twice been named “Educator of the Year” by Delta Kappa Gamma.
The lecture series, now in its 19th year, honors a founder of The Jemicy School, David H. Malin.
Sanford J. Ungar, president of Goucher College and the former director of Voice of America, will speak on “America’s Estrangement from the World: How It Happened and How to Fix It” on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. in the Friends School auditorium. Mr. Ungar’s appearance is open to the public at no charge. Reservations are requested by calling 410-649-3206.
Ungar became Goucher College’s tenth president in July 2001. Prior to that, he most recently served as head of the international broadcasting organization, Voice of America, and is a well-known print and broadcast journalist, having written for The Economist, Foreign Policy, The Washington Post and The Atlantic. He has also hosted National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” and “NPR Dateline.”
