Character education is one of the most important facets of the McDonogh experience. With that in mind, Head of School Dave Farace ’87 is honoring students who show exemplary character and who look to serve others. With the guidance of the Head of the Upper School Merritt Livermore, the Upper School Deans, the Director of the Fine Arts Kara Zimmerman, and Co-Athletic Directors Mickey Deegan and Matt MacMullan, Farace is identifying several students each month who display servant- leadership, great sportsmanship, and social courage. The students are then invited to Farace’s office, where he celebrates their service and thanks them with a t-shirt that bears the phrase “We give something more than we take.”
In the inaugural “We Give Something More Than We Take” celebration on Thursday, September 26, Delaney Yarborough ’22, Michelle Whitehouse ’21, Charlie Fleury ’20, Ronson Holmes ’21, Emma Ryan ’21, Jillian Ansell ’20, and Isaiah Kessler ’20 were recognized.
