YAT Performs Seussical

The Young Actors Theatre in residence at McDonogh will present the musical Seussical in the Ceres M. Horn Theatre on Friday, July 13 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, July 14 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, July 15 at 2 p.m. All shows are open to the public. Seussical, which debuted on Broadway in 2000, integrates elements from different Dr. Seuss books into one show. The story focuses on Horton the elephant and his escapades with the Who’s. YAT’s production includes 35 cast members, ages 10 to 16, from 22 area schools. The direction team includes YAT alumni Cara Costantini and Sarah Levitt, and YAT co-founder Wanda Waller is the musical director.

Founded as a community theater for Baltimore-area students, the Young Actors Theatre has been at McDonogh since 1995, making this its 13th season. Those accepted into the company receive instruction in all aspects of musical theater, including acting, vocal music, lighting, set design, costuming, and make-up. Admission to the five-week summer program is by audition only.
