Class of 1956 Faculty & Staff Excellence Fund

In commemoration of their 50th reunion, the Class of 1956 established the Class of 1956 Faculty and Staff Excellence Fund, an endowed fund aimed to provide opportunities for faculty and staff to visit schools throughout the country to observe best practices in all aspects of pre-k through 12 education. This gift was one of many to the Becoming Our Best campaign to benefit those within the McDonogh community.

This past December, 1956 classmates delivered awards and letters to seven retired faculty from the 1950s era: Hugh Burgess, Ed Kenney, Marty McKibbin, Ray Oliver, Agnes Thomas, Q.D. Thompson, and Dick Working.

Len Lindenmeyer talks about why his class established this endowed fund. “When our class decided we wanted to do something to commemorate our 50th reunion, the idea of honoring faculty and staff was compelling. At McDonogh, the faculty and staff give so much. They are not just teachers, but coaches and advisors as well.”
