Letters of Gratitude by the Class of 2017

Fourth graders had the chance to write letters of gratitude to important people in their lives. At the closing ceremony on June 5, Head of Lower School Noreen Lidston shared some excerpts from those letters, which appear below:

Dear Mom,
Thank you for everything you have done for me. I really appreciate it ... especially when you go the extra mile to come to my sporting events when you have other things to do.... Last but not least, thank you for never giving up on me.

Dear Dad,
Thank you for all the things you've done for me like putting me at McDonogh School ... playing outside with me ... always inspiring me to try my hardest in everything I do ... getting up early to take me to games ... or speeding out of work to play catch ... sometimes driving two hours to take me to play dates or parties. These are only some of the things you do.

Dear Teacher,
When I came into second grade I was scared because I thought I might have a yelling teacher ... but you are the calmest person ever. The song you made me sing in the rock 'n roll play was the only song where my parents ever saw me move my lips. You rock--and I said that with my lips moving.

Dear Teacher,
I was in your kindergarten class the year you left, 2004. Thank you for being lots of fun and teaching me how to say goodbye to someone. That's helped me through my life--like when someone or something leaves or dies like my pet dog or cat. So I already know how to say goodbye to someone. Thank you.

Dear Friend,
One of the best things about having you as a friend is that you don't judge me. It doesn't matter if I have "bed head" at school or if I dropped ketchup all over my shirt. You don't care what I look like, hoe off I act, or how badly I play football. Thank you for always being a great friend to me.
