Calling Cavalry and Riding Alumni
Upon completion of the Eagle's Nest, McDonogh's new state-of-the art indoor riding facility, the idea was conceived to build an outdoor brick patio, adjacent to the ring, where students, spectators, and competitors can congregate. This "Hall of Fame Patio" will be designed to showcase McDonogh's riders and horses from the early days of the cavalry, as well as riding alumni and McDonogh's current riding students.
We are counting on alumni, parents, family, and friends to help create the patio by sponsoring and naming the bricks. Bricks may be purchased for $200 (8"x8" brick, 6 lines of 14 characters or spaces per line) or $100 (4" x 8" brick, 3 lines of 14 characters or spaces per line).
The patio will be constructed in 2010 and 2011 and will be dedicated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony during Reunion Weekend, April 29 and 30, 2011. Cavalry alumni will mark this occasion by holding a reunion to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the end of cavalry at McDonogh. The year 2011 is also significant because it marks Director of Riding Streett Moore's 25th year of service to the school.
