Holiday Table
English teacher Kathie Corcoran recently composed this poem to share with the McDonogh community. Happy Holidays.
We linger at the table
and pass around our stories,
family lore repeated,
tales that nourish us and grow
with each Remember when
and Long ago -
Ancestors crossed an ocean,
climbed a mountain,
plowed a field, fed a stranger,
built a school, sang with joy.
They bind us in a web
of kinship and remind us
who we are. In the telling
we keep memory alive.
