Students in the Upper School's Leadership course will hold a live and silent auction to benefit Partners in Health, an organization that sends volunteer doctors to Haiti.
A live auction will take place during a special assembly on Friday February 19. Students have been collecting a variety of goods and services. They have appealed to parents, students, and teachers for help.
"We are hoping teachers can donate their time and creative talents to auction off an activity for students to bid on," said class dean Alex Gardner, who teaches the Leadership class. He is donating his services for in-home computer repair. History teacher Bridget Collins is offering dinner and rockin' bowling for eight students.
Students, meanwhile, are asked classmates to volunteer services that their teachers might want to bid on.
The students are also seeking donations of goods from all. On campus recently, Darrius Heyward-Bey '05 of the Oakland Raiders promised a football-related item. If you would like to contribute an item to the auction, please e-mail Nancy Love.
The silent auction will take place in the Kiplinger Library starting February 8. Winners will be announced at the February 19 assembly.
All proceeds will go to Partners in Health, a non-profit organization that has been serving the global community for over 20 years. Get details here.
Already, students and teachers in all three divisions have raised more than $11,000 for Haiti relief.
