Varsity Tennis Wins NEMA Tournament
The varsity tennis team won the fourteenth annual New England/Mid-Atlantic Invitational held at McDonogh School, April 24 and 25. The tournament included sixteen teams from eight states. The tops finishers were McDonogh with 25 points, Beacon (NY) and Brunswick (CT) with 23, Blair (NJ) with 21, and Haverford (PA) with 20.
Number one singles player Alex S. '11 and the number two doubles team of Roshan P. '10 and Vibav M. '12 were champions in their divisions. Tommy S. '11 placed third at number three singles, and the number one doubles team of Dixon B. '10 and Jake L. '11 placed fourth overall.
It was McDonogh's first time to outright win the NEMA tournament. The Eagles tied for first place in 1999. The team also won the Woodberry Forest Invitational in Virginia earlier this month.
