McDonogh boys and girls soccer teams affirmed their respective #1 local rankings with huge wins in league championships this weekend.
The boys vanquished rival Gilman with a nail-biting 1-0 overtime victory on November 5 at Archbishop Spalding. Their win took some of the sting out of the football team's loss to Gilman earlier in the day. Read more.

The weekend included two other big contests for Eagles fans. In the 96th annual McDonogh-Gilman football game at McDonogh, an estimated 5,400 spectators watched Gilman prevail, 31-21. The Eagles could meet the Greyhounds once more this season, depending on how the MIAA tournament goes.
Field hockey fans saw the Eagles compete in their first A Conference final since 1982. Playing on November 6 at Goucher College, the girls challenged a tough, top-seeded Garrison Forest team. Garrison claimed the championship, 3-0.
