Attention McDonogh Community: Further Infomation on School and Camp Closure on Monday, July 2nd

Dear McDonogh Community, On Friday, June 29th a large storm passed through our area, which knocked down trees and disrupted electrical service. According to BG&E, currently over 435,000 residences and businesses in our area are currently without power, including McDonogh School. Fortunately, no one was injured and the school suffered only minor damage to two vehicles, but the campus did lose power. We have been in constant communication with our contacts at the utility, but as yet we do not have a firm date when electrical service will be restored. As always, our primary concern is the safety of our campers, students, and the staff. This week the temperature is forecast to remain in the upper 90's to 100's, and without power, we simply have no way to cool our buildings or provide food service. Unfortunately, due to these conditions, McDonogh will be closed Monday, July 2nd. While McDonogh is closed camps will not meet, sports teams will not practice, offices will not be open, and the only people who should be on campus are either residents or work crews cleaning up the property. During this time we will be communicating the status of the repair process via our website at: www.mcdonogh.org, though phone chains, and Amfax, our high-speed phone call system. Please check your voice mail or the school's website for updates. A decision will be posted on Monday at 3:00 pm as to whether McDonogh will open on Tuesday. Also please note when calling into the school that dialing an extension directly does not work. To call the school dial 410-363-0600 and use the phone directory to call a specific extension. Thank you for your cooperation and patience. This message was updated on 7/1/12 at 2:30 pm.
