Headmaster Charlie Britton has announced the appointment of Brad Shelley as Director of Institutional Advancement. He will officially join McDonogh's administrative staff on July 1.
Since 2008, Brad has served as Director of Institutional Advancement at Holland Hall in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a coed, independent, pre-K-12 school with a mission and program similar to McDonogh's.
A skilled independent school fundraiser and manager with eight years of progressively responsible experience, Brad has worked with large capital campaigns, successfully increased annual fund totals and percentages, and expanded alumni relations programs.
Brad began his independent school career as a teacher- coach at Ft. Worth Country Day School in Texas, followed by development work at the Casady School in Oklahoma City. His personal warmth, humility, and passion for education have helped him meet complex fundraising challenges and inspire constituents to support school priorities.
Brad attended the College of Wooster in Ohio before transferring to Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Upon accepting the position, Brad expressed, "McDonogh is regarded as one of the top independent schools in the country, and I am humbled and honored to be a part of the faculty and staff. I look forward to working with the advancement team and building upon all of their past successes. My family is thrilled about becoming part of the McDonogh community."
Brad follows Eileen Flynn Toohey '77, who stepped down as head of advancement after suffering a ruptured brain aneurysm last January. Fortunately, she is doing well and has become a senior development associate of principal gifts for the school. Eileen is credited with greatly expanding McDonogh's development program during her 23 year tenure.
