CMP Update: Visible Changes on Horizon

We're getting closer and closer to visible building construction. In preparation for The Naylor Building (the science, technology, engineering, and math building named for Irvin S. Naylor '54 and his family), teachers are being assigned classrooms so they can specify shelving and other needs for their new spaces.

Here's what else is happening:

  • Parking lots are almost ready for use. They will be striped and lights installed. Estimated opening: two weeks.
  • BGE is installing new electric lines from Lyle to the Field House and from McDonogh Road to the bus shop.
  • A circle road will be built in front of the R-L Center.
  • Sediment controls are being finalized and final approvals sought for building construction. Estimated time to approval: five weeks.
  • Final improvements are being made to the baseball field so it is ready for the start of the season next month. This includes padding on the wall and installation of a fence on top of the wall.
  • We are discussing various options for connecting the current bus loop road to MacHamer Road (by the greenhouse).
  • We are discussing ways to apply for BGE energy credits by installing Energy Star equipment. We want this savings in our pocket as opposed to the subcontractor's.

Depending upon timing, it is possible that we could have a tower crane installed to use for the construction of our two buildings. If the crane is not available, hydraulic lifts will be used.
