Parents, grandparents, and friends had the opportunity to see what Lower School children have been learning in music and art at the annual Adventure With the Arts Day on Friday, April 19. Guests attended performances and toured “Imagination Celebration,” a gallery of artwork displayed throughout the Lower School.
Performances and tours were staggered throughout the day, and the students were eager to show off their own work as well as view the work of children in other grades. Head of Lower School Noreen Lidston welcomed each group of visitors to Imagination Celebration and shared that there is no other museum in the world with works of art comparable to what they would see in Elderkin Hall. Children (wearing colors to identify their grade) and their guests were guided through the hallways and open spaces by faculty docents who explained the artistic process.
The students also shared their musical talents in song, dance, and performances using a variety of instruments from handbells and recorders, to drums and kazoos.
