Bayon Recognized for Faculty Excellence
During a recent McDonogh faculty meeting, Upper School
Foreign Language teacher Laura Bayon was named the 2013
recipient of the Ellen Finkelstein Grant for Faculty
Excellence. The grant was established in December 1998 by a
gift from Ellen’s husband Joel “Buddy” Finkelstein and their
children, H. Bruce Finkelstein '73, Aaron E. Finkelstein '75,
Scott D. Finkelstein, and Karin J. Stratford '87, in memory of
Ellen.
The annual income from this endowed fund is used to
underwrite a faculty member's attendance at a counseling
institute or program. This summer, Laura will attend a seminar
at the Stanley H. King Counseling Institute which provides
teachers with skills to strengthen and deepen their
relationships with students.
