MECHDonogh Eagles Win Rookie All-Star Award

On March 1-2, our own MechDonogh Eagles (Team 4505) traveled to the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York to compete in the Finger Lakes Regional for the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition. The challenge was to build a robot in 45 days that could throw frisbees accurately, drive around the field, and climb a pyramid. The Eagles, in their first year competing with FIRST, were successful at all three challenges, something that is very rare for rookie teams.

Due to their outstanding performance as a first-year team, the MechDonogh Eagles won the Rookie All-Star award and an automatic invitation to compete at the World Championships in St. Louis in April. The Eagles will also compete at the Chesapeake regional competition at the Baltimore Convention Center, April 11-13.
