Students Plunge for Special Olympics

Two members of the Upper School Special Olympics Club braved the cold on Saturday, January 26 to participate in the 17th Annual Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point State Park. The adventuresome duo of Claire S. '13 and Sophia R. '15 took a dip in the frigid waters of the Chesapeake Bay to raise funds for Maryland Special Olympics. Others supported the effort with donations.

The Special Olympics Club was founded in the fall of 2009. Members of the club volunteer throughout the year, working with athletes to help them learn news skills in soccer, basketball, and track and field. In addition to participating in the Polar Bear Plunge, the club also sponsors a team at the Inspiration Walk, an annual event to raise money for Special Olympics of Baltimore County.
