This video, focusing on the theme of "Friendship," was shown at the Lower School assembly on Monday, October 13.
Video coverage by Cindy Green and Barbara Robins.
Character education, an important part of McDonogh’s Lower School curriculum, is explored year-round in the classroom, at assemblies, and in chapel. It is crucial to fulfilling the Lower School motto "to be the best of whatever we are." Each month the students focus on a theme, such as honesty, courage, kindness, and respect, which is explored through books and discussions. The theme for October is: friendship.
Recently, Lower School students were asked to share their thoughts on friendship. They spoke candidly about their own experiences and importance of friendship at McDonogh. Their thoughts were recorded specifically for a video that was shown at the Monday, October 13 Lower School assembly.
Associate Head of Lower School Barbara Robins, who was standing nearby as the children were recorded, notes, “It wasn't until I actually saw the video that I realized how beautiful their thoughts really are. In so many ways, our job is to learn from them and to live up to their ideals."
