The winter sports season is coming to an end, but championship excitement will keep fans on the edge of their seats. Here's what's happening this weekend:
Girls Basketball: The #2 Eagles will take on #1 St. Frances in the I.A.A.M Championship game on Sunday, February 19 at 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson University in Owings Mills. Admissions is $8.
The road to the championship game began on Tuesday, February 14, when McDonogh glided through the quarter-finals defeating Archbishop Spalding (75-29). Tow days later, the Eagles host Roland Park Country School in the semi-final round and defeated the Reds with a score of 63-49.
According to Co-Director of Athletics Mickey Deegan, it was a closer game than the final score reflected. "The closest Roland Park came was one point. Defense in the 4th quarter enabled the Eagles to steal the ball, find the open player and hit some great threes outside the perimeter," she explains.
The quest for the championship crown, a repeat of the 2016 title game, promises to be equally exciting.
